Deborah
Belle,
Experiences in the After-school Hours
Deborah Belle’s, PhD, most recent book is
The After-School Lives of Children: Alone and with Others While
Parents Work. Earlier, she edited Lives in Stress: Women
and Depression and Children’s Social Networks and
Social Supports. She has been a William T. Grant Foundation
faculty scholar and a fellow at the Bunting Institute and at the
Radcliffe Public Policy Center. She is a professor of psychology
at Boston University, where her current research focuses on the
emotional and physical health costs of economic inequality and on
the ways in which individuals and families make sense of poverty
and homelessness in a wealthy nation.
