Steven A. Camarota, Children
of Immigrants
Steven A. Camarota, PhD, is director of research
at the Center for Immigration Studies in Washington, DC. Dr. Camarota
earned his PhD from the University of Virginia and a master’s
degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He has testified before
Congress numerous times on immigration-related issues. His articles
on the impact of immigration have appeared in academic journals
and the popular press including Social Science Quarterly, The
Washington Post, The Chicago Tribune, and National Review.
He appears frequently on CNN, MSNBC, Fox News Channel, NBC Nightly
News, and ABC World News Tonight. His most recent
works, published by the Center for Immigration Studies, are Where
Immigrants Live: An Examination of State Residency of the Foreign
Born and Back Where We Started: An Examination of Trends
in Immigrant Welfare Use Since Welfare Reform. Other recent
work includes The Open Door: How Militant Islamic Terrorists
Entered and Remained in the United States, 1993-2001. He is
the lead researcher on a Census Bureau project that is examining
the quality of data on the foreign-born in the American Community
Survey.
