H. William Kelly, Asthma
H. William Kelly, PharmD, BCPS, FCCP, is a professor
emeritus of pediatrics and pharmacy at the Department of Pediatrics,
School of Medicine, University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center.
His bachelor’s degree in pharmacy is from Washington State
University, and he finished his doctorate in pharmacy and his clinical
pharmacy residency at the University of Minnesota. He is director
of the Albuquerque site of the Childhood Asthma Management Program,
a large National Institutes of Health multicenter, longitudinal
trial of treatments for asthma in children. Dr. Kelly has published
over 80 research articles, reviews, and book chapters on the pharmacotherapy
of asthma. He was co-editor of Pediatric Asthma, part of
the Lung Biology in Health and Disease Series. He is a member of
the National Institutes of Health’s National Asthma Education
and Prevention Program Science Base Committee and Expert Panel that
authored the Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of
Asthma Update on Selected Topics 2002. He also was a consultant
for the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and World Health
Organization’s Global Initiative for Asthma that published
Pocket Guide for Asthma Management and Prevention in Children.
