Alex Molnar, Advertising in Schools
Alex Molnar is a professor of education policy
and director of the Education Policy Studies laboratory at Arizona
State University. He has a BA in history, political science, and
education; master’s degrees in history and social welfare;
a specialist’s certificate in educational administration;
and a PhD in urban education. Molnar’s work has appeared in
scholarly and professional journals as well as newspapers and magazines
such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today,
New Republic, and Education Week. He has been a frequent
guest on National Public Radio’s Market Place and
The Nation. He has appeared on television’s 60
Minutes, The News Hour, and CNN Reports, among others.
Molnar is the editor or coauthor of several books, including Changing
Problem Behavior in Schools, which is widely used by educators
in the United States and has been translated into four languages;
Giving Kids the Business: The Commercialization of America’s
Schools; The Construction of Children’s Character; Vouchers,
Class Size Reduction, and Student Achievement: Considering the Evidence;
and School Reform Proposals: The Research Evidence.
