P. O'Hare,
Changes in the Well-being of Children
KIDS COUNT coordinator Bill O’Hare, PhD,
has worked with the Annie E. Casey Foundation since 1993. He produces
the annual KIDS COUNT Data Book, which provides comparable data
on child well-being for each state. In addition, Dr. O’Hare
oversees a growing list of supplementary KIDS COUNT publications.
He also represents the foundation’s interests with the National
Academy of Sciences and other professional statistical and demographic
organizations. Just prior to joining the foundation, Dr. O’Hare
was director of population and policy research at the Center of
Urban and Economic Research at the University of Louisville, where
his work included the use of census information to address policy-related
issues. Dr. O’Hare received his BS and MA (both in multidisciplinary
social science) as well as his PhD in sociology from Michigan State
University. He is currently a member of the Population Association
of America, the Southern Demographic Association, the American Statistical
Association, and the American Sociological Association.
