William P. O'Hare,
Changes in the Well-being of Children

KIDS COUNT coordinator Bill O’Hare, PhD, has worked with the Annie E. Casey Foundation since 1993. He produces the annual KIDS COUNT Data Book, which provides comparable data on child well-being for each state. In addition, Dr. O’Hare oversees a growing list of supplementary KIDS COUNT publications. He also represents the foundation’s interests with the National Academy of Sciences and other professional statistical and demographic organizations. Just prior to joining the foundation, Dr. O’Hare was director of population and policy research at the Center of Urban and Economic Research at the University of Louisville, where his work included the use of census information to address policy-related issues. Dr. O’Hare received his BS and MA (both in multidisciplinary social science) as well as his PhD in sociology from Michigan State University. He is currently a member of the Population Association of America, the Southern Demographic Association, the American Statistical Association, and the American Sociological Association.
