Wallerstein,
The Consequences of Divorce
Judith Wallerstein, PhD, is an authority on the
effects of divorce on children and their families. She is senior
lecturer emerita at the University of California at Berkeley and
founder of the Judith Wallerstein Center for the Family in Transition
in California, a major center for research, education, and counseling
for families in separation, divorce, and remarriage. Findings from
her groundbreaking investigations have been widely published in
scientific journals and lay publications and presented worldwide
to community groups and meetings of medical, legal, and mental health
professionals. Her books include Surviving the Breakup: How
Children and Parents Cope with Divorce, written with Joan B.
Kelly. Subsequent bestsellers include Second Chances: Men, Women
and Children a Decade After Divorce, written with Sandra Blakeslee,
and The Unexpected Legacy of Divorce: A 25-Year Landmark Study,
written with Julia Lewis and Sandra Blakeslee. Her latest work,
a guide for divorcing parents, is What About the Kids? Raising
Children Before, During and After Divorce, written with Sandra
Blakeslee. She has received numerous awards from national medical,
psychological, and legal groups and from legislative bodies.
