Paul
H. Wise,
Medical Progress and Inequalities in Child Health
Paul H. Wise, MD, MPH, is vice-chief of the Division
of Social Medicine and Health Inequalities in the Department of
Medicine, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and professor of pediatrics
in the Boston University Schools of Medicine and Public Health.
Dr. Wise is director of social and health policy research in the
Department of Pediatrics, Boston Medical Center, and associate in
medicine at the Children’s Hospital, Boston. Dr. Wise earned
his AB and MD degrees from Cornell University, did his pediatric
training at the Children’s Hospital in Boston, and received
a master of public health degree from the Harvard School of Public
Health. His prior positions include director of Emergency and Primary
Care Services at the Children’s Hospital, Boston, and director
of the Harvard Institute for Reproductive and Child Health at Harvard
Medical School. He also served as a special expert at the National
Institutes of Health and special assistant to the U.S. Surgeon General.
His research focuses on social disparities in child health status
and child health policy.
