Tips For Using This Site

At the bottom of each page is a "NEXT" button, which will help you navigate through the site in an order that allows you to get the most out of the Web site. In addition, throughout the site, if you click on a underlined term or hyperlink, you will move to another area for further information. The site includes the following 5 sections:

The Adolescent HIV Prevention Resource Toolkit
A resource toolkit has been developed to help frame the process of beginning a collaborative project focused on adolescent health issues, with specific information on adolescent reproductive health issues targeting HIV and related STD prevention. Learn about collaboration, resources in adolescent reproductive health and HIV/STD prevention, the coordinated school health model, youth development, and other issues. By utilizing this resource toolkit, you will have a background on the issues and topics that two AAP initiatives found relevant for working collaboratively on adolescent health issues. A framework for how to proceed through the resource toolkit, as well as the resource toolkit table of contents, is located in the Resource Toolkit Introduction.

National Initiatives
This section includes information about relevant AAP national initatives. Three national initiatives have focused on adolescent health issues in the past 5 years. A summary of each of the projects is provided, along with a list of project participants, conference agendas, photos and other relevant information.

Adolescent Health Partnership Project -- A PIPPAH grantee (2006)
Adolescent HIV Prevention Project (2005-2006)
Adolescent Health Project (2003-2004)

Improving Adolescent Health Through State-level Collaborative Projects
Examples of how states have applied information such as the resource toolkit are included in this section. Two AAP initiatives have supported pediatricians, public health personnel, and state education agency staff in working collaboratively on projects that benefit the health of adolescents. The stories from these collaborative teams are summarized and sorted by geographical location and adolescent health topic.

Links to Other Organizations, Initiatives, and Resources
There are many organizations that provide helpful resources for adolescent health issues and HIV/STD prevention. This area provides links to other adolescent resources.
