NATIONAL DOG BITE PREVENTION WEEK IS MAY 18-24

For Release: May 5, 2008

Every year, dogs bite 4.7 million Americans, with 48 percent of all reported bites to victims younger than 10 years old. Children are 300 times more likely than adults to be bitten. The AAP supports National Dog Bite Prevention Week, May 18-24, to help educate children about how to stay safe around dogs of all sizes.
