Division of Community Health Services

The Division of Community Health Services was established in 1989 to coordinate initiatives and develop strategies to assist those who seek to improve community health services for children within a Medical Home by:

  • Developing and implementing health promotion and disease-prevention strategies to achieve the Healthy People 2010 national health objectives;
  • Offering opportunities for AAP members and others to improve their knowledge, attitudes, and skills within their practice, community, and chapter;
  • Implementing the principles and strategies described in the AAP policy statement “The Pediatricians’ Role in Community Pediatrics”; and
  • Strengthening the interface and collaboration between public health and pediatric practice.
