In an effort to incorporate oral health risk assessment into well-child visits, the Oral Health Risk Assessment (OHRA) Preceptorship Program was developed. The program assists pediatricians who provide care to underserved populations, practice in areas with limited dental care, or who demonstrate a willingness and ability to train other health care professionals in oral health assessments.

The Community Access to Child Health (CATCH) program is a national AAP program that strives to improve access to health care by supporting pediatricians and communities who are involved in community-based efforts for children. The PedsCare program has funded many of the projects related to oral health.
