A personal message from Dr Lindell:

"As the COHA in the state of Michigan, I am currently working on several different projects at the community
and state level. One, with our oral health committee members, I am helping to develop and implement a peer-
to-peer training regarding oral health in children. We are currently investigating funding prospects for this project.
Second, our committee is collaborating with local programs such as Early On, Head Start, WIC, to promote children's
oral health. Finally, my partner and I are working on a local level to improve oral health for our patients. We developed
a survey for our families regarding their perceptions on oral health in the hopes that we will gain insight on how to
improve this. We are now screening for high risk children using the CAT and applying fluoride varnish for
those who qualify. Together with local dentists in the community, we are hoping to prevent early
childhood caries by identifying infants and young children who are at risk.
