The Practical Care of the Adolescent and Young Adult Course is a review and update that emphasizes various areas of adolescent health and provides information that can be employed immediately in the care and treatment of adolescents and young adults.

The Practical Care of the Adolescent and Young Adult Course is an in-person course. No virtual content will be provided.

MAXIMUM AMA PRA CATEGORY 1 CREDITS™ FOR COURSE: 20.25

Care of adolescent and young adult patients requires expertise in childhood diseases that carry into adulthood, as well as the emergence of adult diseases in the pediatric patient. This course will provide attendees with a state-of-the-art review of key conditions affecting adolescents and young adults as well as the preventive measures that are critical to improve the health and quality of life outcomes for patients in this age group.
 
This three-day course includes practical updates in vaping, tobacco and nicotine use, chronic fatigue syndrome, healthy eating, stress management, adolescent dermatology, opioids, depression and suicide, sexually transmitted infections and trauma-informed care. The schedule allows time for attendees to take advantage of all the Denver area has to offer.

  • Diagnose common sports injuries in adolescent and young adult athletes
  • Employ state of the art guidelines for the management of sexually transmitted infections and contraceptive methods
  • Identify and treat dermatologic issues in adolescents

Special group rates beginning at $249 per night, plus tax, for single or double occupancy, have been negotiated at the Hilton Denver City Center. These rates represent substantial savings from published rates. The cutoff date for reservations at the group rate is April 19, 2024. Call the hotel directly to make your reservations and ask for the AAP group rate.

A limited number of guest rooms have been reserved, and they are assigned based on availability (first-come, first-served). Please be aware that the room block may be filled prior to April 19, 2024; in such a case, neither the group rate nor guest room availability can be guaranteed. The AAP, therefore, recommends that you make your reservations as early as possible.

To accommodate as many course participants as possible, registrants will be permitted to reserve no more than two rooms in the AAP’s hotel room block. If rooms remain available in the AAP room block three weeks prior to the start of the course, registrants may reserve additional rooms as needed.

Ground Transportation
Taxis and ride share services are all available for the ride between Denver International Airport (DEN) and the hotel. The ride is approximately 24 miles.

Parking
Valet and self-parking are available at the hotel for a fee.  
 
Child Care
The hotel does not provide childcare services nor a kids club.

Registration Confirmation
Your registration will be confirmed. Please contact the AAP Registration Area if you do not receive confirmation within 7 days. The AAP cannot be responsible for expenses incurred by an individual who is not confirmed and for whom space is not available at this course. The AAP reserves the right to cancel a course due to unforeseen circumstances or to limit enrollments, should attendance exceed capacity. Course educational sessions are open only to registered attendees.

Cancellations
Registration cancellations for this course must be received in writing at registration@aap.org no later than May 2, 2024, to receive a refund. An administrative fee of $50 will be deducted. Refunds will not be issued if the pre-course, on-demand sessions, or materials have been accessed by the registrant at any time.

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

This program is accredited for 20.25 NAPNAP CE contact hours of which 0.00 contain pharmacology (Rx) content, (0.00 related to psychopharmacology) (0.00 related to controlled substances), per the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) Continuing Education Guidelines. The AAP is designated as Agency #A17. Upon completion of the program, each participant desiring NAPNAP contact hours must send a completed certificate of attendance to ce@napnap.org. Payment of $15 for NAPNAP members and nonmembers is required via credit card for all NAPNAP contact hour requests. Keep this certificate for your records for six (6) years. Requests for duplicate certificates should be made to the AAP.
