CHILD CARE
|
A majority of young children attend early education and child care programs. Types of arrangements used by families include parent only care, care by a relative, non-relative care (in a family child care home or in the child's home), and center-based care. "Early education and child care" is a preferred term because it emphasizes that education occurs in all settings.
The AAP offers pediatricians, caregivers/teachers, and parents resources, strategies, and opportunities to learn about and use effective health and safety practices to promote health, prevent disease, and improve the quality of the care provided to all children. High-quality early education and child care for young children improves their health and promotes their development and learning. |
