COMPLEMENTARY AND ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE
It is important for pediatricians and families to discuss interest and use of CAM to ensure quality coordinated care. More patients and families are turning to complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) to care for their children, particularly those with chronic illness. In fact, a recent study conducted by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed that more than 1 in 9 chldren use some form of CAM, including herbal medicine, acupuncture, and chiropractic care.
