ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
Pediatric environmental health focuses on the prevention and control of environmental exposures and associated adverse health effects on infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. It addresses the effect of environmental sources on child health, including the human impact upon the environment and how this influences the health of children. Rather than protection of the environment, pediatric environmental health focuses upon the protection of children from environmental hazards. Topic areas include air pollution, lead, mercury, second-hand smoke, pesticides & insect repellants, radiation exposures, and carbon monoxide poisoning, among many others.
