SPORTS PARTICIPATION
Every child and adolescent should have an opportunity to participate in sports and regular physical activity. Participation can be associated with both health benefits and health risks. With healthy activity as a goal for everyone, restricting participation within reason as a mean to limit risk is no more acceptable than promoting participation without regard to safety.
Each issue of Sports Shorts examines a single sports-related condition and is designed for both physicians and parents. One side has information for the physician and the other side has information for the parent and patient, which can be copied and distributed to families during a health care visit. Sports Shorts is no longer in publication, however, archived issues are still available for viewing.
