Influenza Guidance

The 2009-2010 influenza season will include vaccination efforts for both seasonal influenza as well as Novel H1N1 influenza (swine flu). For more information on H1N1, visit the AAP homepage.

Supply

  • Some supply problems for seasonal vaccine have started to be reported for the 2009-2010 season. Over 130 million doses are expected to be available this season, but physicians are finding shipments slowing as manufacturers work quickly to also distribute H1N1 vaccine.

  • H1N1 vaccine will be purchased and distributed by the federal government, with an anticipated arrival date in mid-October. Updates from the CDC will continue to be made as more information on clinical trials becomes available.
