International membership is available to an applicant who has received a Doctor of Medicine (or an equivalent degree) from a medical school located outside of the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada, has received certification in pediatrics from a board of certification (or equivalent board) located outside of the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada, practices medicine outside of the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada, and is a member in good standing of a local pediatric society which has been recognized by the International Pediatric Association. The American Academy of Pediatrics is pleased to offer the enhanced International membership benefits so often requested by our colleagues around the world. International membership with the AAP now carries many of the same benefits of an AAP Fellow. The only limitations are related to serving in National office and voting in National elections. The 2008-2009 International member dues rate will be $405, 25% less than the Fellow rate of $544.
