Dr. Michael Anderson is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Case School
of Medicine in Cleveland Ohio. He is a pediatric intensivist at Rainbow Babies
and Children's Hospital where he is the director of CME and Fellowship training.
He also serves as medical director of the PICU at the MetroHealth Medical Center.
Dr. Anderson received his undergraduate degree from John Carroll University
in 1986 where he was awarded the Beaudry Outstanding Senior award. He received
his M.D. degree from Case Western Reserve in 1990. Dr. Anderson then went on to
complete his Pediatric Residency at the Children's Hospital of Michigan where
he received the Sanford Cohen Outstanding Senior award. He went on to complete
a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital.
Dr. Anderson is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care by the
American Board of Pediatrics.
His research and clinical interests include
ARDS, national physician workforce issues, pediatric critical care transport and
national health policy for children. Dr. Anderson has been awarded grant funding
from the NIH, EMS-C and the Rainbow Board of Trustees. He has published on a wide
variety of Pediatric Critical Care topics including sepsis, ARDS, care of the
immunosupressed patient and transport of the unstable pediatric patient. Dr. Anderson
is a member of the Rainbow Education Committee and has been awarded several teaching
awards at Rainbow and Metro. He has spoken on a wide variety of pediatric topics
to national organizations and serves as voice for children on Capital Hill through
his work with the National Association of Children's Hospitals (NACH).
Dr Anderson
has served on 3 national committees for the American Academy of Pediatrics and
served as the chair of the Committee on Pediatric Workforce from 2004 to 2006.
He also serves as the newsletter editor for the AAP Transport Section. In 2003,
Dr. Anderson was named to a Health and Human Services/Maternal and Child Health
Bureau (MCHB) expert panel on pediatric subspecialty workforce.
Currently,
Dr Anderson is leading the charge to form a pediatric disaster response team,
pooling the talent of 6 of Ohio's Children's Hospitals.
In Cleveland, he serves
as the PALS affiliate faculty for Rainbow and was appointed to the Cleveland EMS
Physician's advisory board in 2003. Dr. Anderson was appointed medical director
for the City of Willoughby Hills in 2006. He also serves on the board of directors
for the "Fresh Air Camp" for ventilator dependent children.
Dr. Anderson and
his wife Dianne are the proud parents of 5 children and are active in both their
church and the Boy Scouts of America.
