Native American Child Health
Advocacy Award

Roger E. Gollub, MD, FAAP
2009 Native American Child Health
Advocacy Award Winner

The 2009 Native American Child Health Advocacy Award was presented posthumously to Roger E. Gollub, MD on Sunday, October 18, 2009 in conjunction with the AAP National Conference and Exhibition in Washington, DC. Dr Gollub was a brilliant pediatrician and scientist who provided care to American Indian and Alaska Native children for over 24 years. He began his career as a staff pediatrician at the Gallup Indian Medical Center in New Mexico, served as the epidemiologist for the Albuquerque Area Indian Health Service, and also worked at the Primary Care Center at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage. Dr Gollub was tragically killed on November 19, 2008 in Kotzebue, AK, when a snowmobile crashed into the dogsled he was driving. Dr Gollub’s life was spent serving others. He was instrumental in drawing attention to public health issues facing the communities he served. Further information can be found at www.drrogergollubcommunity.org.
