PROS Febrile Infant Study |

A total of 3,146 febrile infants were enrolled in the study by 573 practitioners in 220 practices. A substudy looking at hospitalization costs through billing data from hospitalized patients has been completed. Data were received on 55% of the patients for whom information was requested. Another substudy, comparing infants enrolled in the main study with those who were missed and also verifying data on enrolled patients, has been completed. Data was collected by 28 practices. Surveys were completed for 67 eligible patients, 23 of which were not enrolled in the main study. Finally, fifteen practices were chosen to participate in a telephone substudy where information regarding the phone management of febrile infants was documented. Ten practices completed data collection on 103 infants.
Results of the main study and substudies will be published in future manuscripts.
