The Healthy Lifestyles Pilot Study
The Healthy Lifestyles Pilot Study represents a collaboration between researchers at PROS, Wake Forest University School of Medicine, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The overall goal of the pilot is to test and refine the protocol for a future main study that will assess the effectiveness of an office-based intervention designed to improve eating and activity patterns, and stabilize weight gain of children at risk for obesity.
Specific Pilot Study Aims:
- Test and refine patient and practice recruitment approaches.
- Assess the effects of the study on patient flow in the office.
- Evaluate the use of the intervention by pilot practitioners.
- Obtain feedback from practitioners and parents about all aspects of their participation in the pilot.
- Evaluate the appropriateness, and reliability and validity of all data collection instruments and the data analysis plan.
- Identify additional and unanticipated costs of carrying out the pilot that will affect the main study.
