CARING FOR CHILDREN WITH ADHD: A RESOURCE
TOOLKIT FOR CLINICIANS
(Available in English and Spanish)
|
The American Academy
of Pediatrics (AAP) offers a comprehensive toolkit developed from evidence-based
guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity
disorder (ADHD). This
resource toolkit contains a wide array of screening, diagnosis, treatment,
and support materials for clinicians and other health care professionals.
These recommendations
emphasize that ADHD is a chronic condition that is best addressed with
a multidisciplinary, multimodal treatment approach.
This toolkit
contains practical tools to help incorporate the new AAP guidelines
into office practice, including
- Symptom checklists
for use by parents and teachers
- Guidance on
selecting appropriate therapy
- Forms to acquire
teacher reports
- Examples of
written management plans to help strengthen family skills
- Strategies
to assist the clinician in monitoring the child
