QuIIN MISSION

Girl The mission of the Quality Improvement Innovation Network (QuIIN), a network of AAP member practicing pediatricians and their staff, is to improve care and outcomes for children and families by testing practical tools, measures, and strategies for use in everyday pediatric practice, the child's medical home.

QuIIN OBJECTIVES

  • Recruit and engage a network of practicing pediatricians who are AAP members, have experience in quality improvement, and an interest in making change happen that will improve care and outcomes for children and families
  • Assist in identifying tools and strategies to implement AAP clinical practice guideline recommendations, measures, and policies
  • Serve as a resource to Academy quality initiatives that need the improvement expertise of a of group interested, energetic, and in-the-trenches pediatricians (A listing of such quality initiatives can be found on the AAP QI Initiatives Page)
  • Provide a standard Academy mechanism for developing "change packages" of measures, tools, and strategies
  • Serve as a practical working lab for pediatricians to test how improvements can be implemented in practice
  • Provide quality improvement learning opportunities for Network members
  • Provide Network members access to tools as they are developed by the Network

WHY AN INNOVATION NETWORK?

The Academy has developed multiple evidence-based guidelines during the past decade yet, for the most part, these recommendations did not become standard practice. In fact, multiple studies document that the development and publication of guidelines alone do not translate into improved care. Practical tools and strategies have been identified as important components to assist pediatricians in making change in practice. QuIIN was developed to provide a standard Academy mechanism for developing these "change packages" of measures, tools, and strategies.

MEMBER LIST

A pediatrician who is a member of this network likes being on the cutting-edge of practice innovations. He or she is a clinician in practice who likes to get change started. These clinicians enjoy having a say in what the Academy puts out to its members and are willing to dedicate the time to do so. View the QuIIN membership list by clicking here.

If you are interested in becoming a member of QuIIN, complete the Quality Improvement Innovation Network Membership Application.
