| Advocacy Scholarships 2010 December 9, 2009 Dear AAP Section on Emergency Medicine Members: The AAP Section on Emergency Medicine (SOEM) Executive Committee is pleased to announce that it will continue to fund an advocacy scholarship. For 2010, one $1000 scholarship will be awarded to an SOEM member, on a competitive basis, to support attendance at the AAP Advocacy Institute, March 10-12, 2010 at the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel & Convention Center in Schaumburg, IL. The AAP Advocacy Institute will combine federal and state advocacy education typically provided at the AAP Legislative Conference and AAP Chapter Advocacy Summit. Section membership is required for this scholarship. The purpose of the scholarship is to foster advocacy for Pediatric Emergency Medicine and the emergency care of children - an ongoing objective of the SOEM strategic plan. The advocacy scholarship(s) has been made available by the Section since 2004 and feedback from SOEM member conference participants has been very positive. Their reports may be viewed on the Section Web site. The $1000 SOEM advocacy scholarship is intended to help defray costs of lodging and registration for the 2010 AAP Advocacy Institute. The registration fee for AAP members is $395. The SOEM award recipient must, of course, attend the conference, and is also expected to:
