The
Section on Rheumatology accepts the following Member Types:
Fellows, Post-Residency Training Fellows, Resident Fellows, Candidate
Fellows, Retired Fellows, Emeritus Fellows, CPS/AAP Dual Fellows, Corresponding
Fellows, International Members, and Honorary Fellows who are pediatric
rheumatologists or pediatricians with a special interest in pediatric
rheumatology and desire to contribute to the objectives of the Section.
Applicants for membership
should be one of the following:
- certified in
Rheumatology by the American Board of Pediatrics,
- have more than
50% of their practice in pediatric rheumatology,
- be a pediatrician
with a special interest in rheumatology,
- an outstanding
individual who is dedicated to the field of pediatric rheumatology
or enrolled in a pediatric residency.
Affiliate
Membership:
The Section also accepts Affiliate Members: 1) licensed physicians who
are not eligible for membership in the Academy and 2) registered nurses
and nurse practitioners who are demonstrably active in pediatric rheumatology
3) occupational and physical therapists who are demonstrably active in
pediatric rheumatology, and 4) registered dietitians who are demonstrably
active in pediatric rheumatology. These professionals must be a part of
pediatric rheumatology team under the direct supervision of a certified
pediatric rheumatologist within a pediatric rheumatology department or
division.
1. Nurses, nurse
practitioners. Currently, the Section of Pediatric Rheumatology is
only interested in including nurses (RN) and nurse practitioners who
are demonstrably active in pediatric rheumatology with at least 50%
of their time devoted to the care of infants, children and adolescents
with rheumatic diseases. The majority of these nurses and nurse practitioners
will be active members of the American College of Rheumatology - Arthritis
Health Professors Association (ACR-AHPA).
2. Occupational
therapists, physical therapists. Currently, the Section of Pediatric
Rheumatology is only interested in occupational and physical therapists
who are demonstrably active in pediatric rheumatology with at least
50% of their time devoted to the care of infants, children and adolescents
with rheumatic diseases.
3. Registered
Dietitians. Registered dietitians will need to fill out an application
for section affiliate membership. This affiliate application has an
area for the signature of 2 AAP Fellows, one of which must be a member
of the Section who can verify that the dietitian is a part of a rheumatology
team. All applications must be accompanied by proof of any listed
training, certificates and degrees.

Fellows - $40.00 annually
Post-Residency Training Fellows and Resident Fellows - $10.00 Annually
Affiliates - $60.00 annually
