Since
1973, Dr Fost has been at the University of Wisconsin where he is Professor of
Pediatrics, Director of the Program in Medical Ethics, Director of the Child Protection
Team, and a general pediatrician. He has chaired the Hospital Ethics Committee
and the UW Health Sciences Human Subjects Committee for 26 years.
Within
the AAP, Dr Fost chaired the national Committee on Bioethics (1986-1990), served
on the Section on Bioethics Executive Committee (1995-1999) and was a founding
member of the Task Force on Pediatric AIDS (1992-1993). He has served on numerous
federal committees involving genetic screening, research ethics and regulation,
and President Clinton's Health Care Task Force. He was elected to Princeton University's
Board of Trustees (1994-1998).
