The AAP Section on Dermatology wishes to announce The Walter W. Tunnessen, Jr. Visiting Professorship. Dr. Tunnessen was a consummate educator and clinician who devoted much of his career to teaching about skin disorders in children and adolescents. The intent of the visiting professorship named in his honor is to bring an expert in pediatric dermatology to pediatric residency programs to enhance education about dermatologic disease. Interested institutions that possess a pediatric residency program, particularly those without access to an expert in pediatric dermatology, are encouraged to apply by completing an application below. It is anticipated that the visiting professor would spend two days at the host institution conducting lectures, seminars, or rounds with pediatric residents, medical students, and faculty. Two visiting professorships will be awarded annually. The Section
on Dermatology will oversee the program and provide an honorarium, along
with reimbursement for travel, lodging, and meal expenses for two days. Applications are due on Monday, January 18, 2010. Applicants will be notified of the Section's decision by February 15,
2010. The successful applicant program may then schedule the visit for
any time during the calendar year 2010.
