The SOID Award for Lifetime Contribution
in Infectious Diseases Education is given annually to an Academy member who has
made outstanding contributions to education in infectious diseases. The award
was established in 2004 to acknowledge those with a long and distinguished history
as infectious diseases educators of AAP membership. The recipient receives a cash
award as well as travel to the National Convention and Exhibition for him/herself
and a family member. Previous recipients include Dr. George McCracken in 2004,
Dr. Louis Cooper in 2005, and Drs. Caroline Hall and Russell Steele in 2006.
