The Section on Radiology, founded in 1979, is dedicated to improving the care of infants, children and adolescents. Its primary mission is to educate general pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists about radiology in their practice.

Membership in the section is open to physicians who are certified in Radiology by the American Board of Radiology and who spend at least 50 percent of their practice in the care of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. The Section currently has 50 members.

Section members elect their own Executive Committee members that include a section chairperson, membership chair, program chair, and nominating chair. The section meets each year at the AAP National Conference & Exhibition (NCE). At each NCE, members of the Section present a diverse array of programs in imaging. These include workshops on imaging and interpretation (both beginning level and advanced) and a special program for Section members.

The Section serves as an expert resource to the Academy by providing review and input to official Academy policy. For example, it authored a statement in 2000 on "Diagnostic Imaging of Child Abuse."

To obtain an application for membership in the Section on Radiology, contact the AAP Customer Service Center at 800/843-2271, or click HERE for the Membership Categories and Applications Home Page.
