Team A shared program
of The Children's Hospital and The Kempe Center for the Prevention &
Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect, this multidisciplinary team is
comprised of pediatricians, psychologist, physician's assistant, nurse
practitioner hand hospital based social workers. The team provides forensic
medical evaluations for children with suspected physical and sexual
abuse, injuries, sexual assault, failure to thrive and all forms of
neglect. Colposcopy is performed in the outpatient child protection
team clinic. An organized training program in child abuse exists for
medical students and residents. A two - three year fellowship program
is offered for board certified or board eligible pediatricians. The
team participates in local child fatality review, provides expert consultation
to law enforcement, child welfare agencies and courts in the Rocky Moutain
region and is involved in research and education in many areas of child
abuse and neglect. |
