The CMS Child Protection Team of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties is a medical model team. The heart of the team is the multidisciplinary staffing model used to help to direct cases of Child Abuse and neglect toward an appropriate treatment plan. Case coordinators conduct video taped interviews of children and do social assessments. Our team physicians do medical D&E's. Our contract psychologists do evaluations.

This program consists of one physician and three social workers. It provides medical evaluation and psychological evaluation of children involved in sexual abuse, physical abuse, medical and physical neglect, emotional abuse and failure to thrive. It also provides family assessment. Lectures and workshops are given to schools and hospitals in the surrounding area. It serves as liaison between the community and HRS.

The University of Miami Child Protection Team is an interdisciplinary team comprised of pediatricians, ARNP, nurses, psychologist, social workers and case coordinators providing services in Dade and Monroe County. The program is divided into two separate components: 1) Provides medical, psychological and psychosocial assessments to children who are alleged victims of physical, sexual and emotional abuse. Team is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The purpose of these assessments is to assist the Department of Children and Families in their investigation of the alleged abuse and to provide recommendations to minimize the risk of re-abuse. 2) Provides medical and psychological assessments to children removed from their homes as a result of an abuse allegation. The purpose of these assessments is to identify the medical and psychological needs of the child and assist in the Department of Children and Families in placement decisions.

Our Child Protection team is a multidisciplinary team established to protect children from abuse and help prevent abuse. We assist the state children-youth and families protective investigators by providing medical and psychological evaluations, and also social evaluations by our case coordinators. Our case coordinators do "one strike" videotaped interviews with the children with representatives of other agencies present. We have multidisciplinary staffings of cases when needed. Our staff does child abuse presentations and educational work.

The services of the Children's Advocacy Center are aimed at preventing child abuse, advocating for victims and offering hope and healing to victims and non-offending family members. The Center's Child Protection Team, a medically-based multidisciplinary approach to helping children who have been sexually abused, is considered the agency's core service. Victims are referred to the Child Protection Team by law enforcement or the Department of Children and Families. Services provided include video-taped forensic interviews of the victim, medical exams and consultations, case coordination and counseling referrals. This team also serves victims of severe physical abise and failure to thrive. In addition to Child Protection Team services, the agency provides counseling and abuse/re-abuse prevention programming.

Medically based, multidisciplinary program providing consultative evaluations of children and families when there are concerns regarding child abuse and/or neglect. The team serves 16 counties of the Department of Children and Families Districts 3 and 13 in North Central Florida. This is one of 23 such teams throughout the state, linked by a common program, direction, and ongoing education. The program provides expert court testimony, psychological and medical evaluations, training for community professionals, and is linked to the University of Florida's Pediatric Residency Training Program with continuous monthly pediatric resident rotations.

The Broward County Child Protection Team is a medically directed multidisciplinary team. This team consists of a medical director, team supervisor, psychologist, nurse practitioner, lawyer, social worker, and six masters level mental health professionals. We receive referrals from the Department of Children and Families, Law Enforcement, and the Dependency Court. We provide a variety of assessment activities to address the validity of abuse allegations, and to identify risk factors and interventions for reducing the risk of further abuse and neglect. The assessment activities provided include: medical examinations, medical consultations, specialized interviews, family assessments, psychological evaluations, multidisciplinary team staffings, case review, and expert court testimony. The team also provides training on the dynamics, prevention, and treatment of child abuse/neglect.
