The Mayo Clinic
Child Abuse Team works closely with local state social service agencies
to identify and investigate children and families in which allegations
are made. Initial evaluations are available on an emergency or appointment
basis. We are able to provide medical, social service, psychiatric,
and psychological evaluations. We also participate in a community
based child protection team, developing treatment plans for children
and families.

A multidisciplinary program providing expert consultation for parents
and professionals working with abused children. Staff includes pediatricians,
pediatric nurse practitioners, social worker, psychologists, and attorney.
The center provides 24 hour telephone consultations and emergency
medical services. Sexual abuse interviews are all video-taped. Forensic
photographic documentation and diagnosis of physical abuse and neglect.
Over 1000 children are seen each year with over 5000 telephone consultations.

This multidisciplinary
team is hospital based and evaluates children and adolescents of all
ages for child maltreatment, including sexual abuse, physical abuse
and neglect. The team includes pediatricians, pediatric social workers,
nurses and involves hospital and community professionals as needed.
