AAP - COUNCIL ON SCHOOL HEALTH

AWARDS

Each year during its annual educational program, the AAP Council on School Health presents the Milton J.E. Senn and Martin C. Ushkow Awards to two deserving individuals and/or an organization for their dedication to school health.

Milton J.E. Senn Award
This annual award and lectureship was renamed in 1990 to honor distinguished child psychiatrist Milton J.E. Senn, MD, FAAP. Dr Senn was a pioneer in instituting school health programs.

Each year this award is presented to a person who has distinguished him/herself in the field of school health on a national basis and/or has contributed significantly to the AAP Council on School Health to improve the welfare of school children.

Martin C Ushkow Award
The Martin C Ushkow Award was established in 1996 in honor of its namesake, Martin Ushkow, MD, FAAP. For more than 20 years, Dr Ushkow served as a school physician and Director of Child Health for the Syracuse City School District. He chaired both the AAP Committee on School Health and the New York State Medical Society’s Committee on School Health.

This annual award recognizes a physician or school health-related professional or organization that has contributed to the welfare of children in school and/or the community by promoting coordinated school health programs or physician and health professions education in school health.
