Robert J. Grayson MD FAAP

Born in 1919, Bob Grayson was a wartime graduate of Princeton University and Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. Following pediatric training in New York City and Duke University, he practiced pediatrics privately in Miami Beach FL from 1949-1986. Bob has a long history of advocacy for children at state and national levels within the Academy. His leadership of the Florida Pediatric Society Accident Prevention Committee led to the formation of 15 poison control centers in the State, and subsequently his service as first President of the American Association of Poison Control Centers. Dr. Grayson drafted a new constitution merging Florida Pediatrics Society President (1964-65) with FL Chapter of AAP and served as President (1964-65). Bob was elected as  AAP Alternate District IV Chairman in 1978, and AAP District IV Chairman in 1983. He served as District IV Chairman and represented the District on the AAP Executive Board until October 1989. In 1991 Bob Grayson was given the AAP Grulee Award for outstanding service to the Academy. Married to Shirley Singer Grayson until her death in 2003, Bob currently lives in Surfside, FL with his son.
