Stamp Collecting

Bob Grayson -

Stamp collecting is another good hobby for the golden years.  It is not strenuous and if the eyes are not as strong as they were years ago, good light and a magnifying glass is the answer. Collecting anything and everything is universal. We are all squirrels at heart.  We collect until we run out of room, and then we have a garage sale, which is fun in itself.  Then we start collecting again.  Stamp collecting is different.  It doesn’t take up much space.  Most of us started with worldwide collection when we were kids.  There were not as many countries and stamps then, but now most  folks specialize by country or subject. My interest is in United States plate number blocks, (four or more stamps with the plate number attached in the border).  Stamp collecting is the most numerous hobby in the US.
