2005 Local Heroes Award Recipient
Thomas Young, MD, FAAP
Thomas L. Young, MD, FAAP is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics
at the University of Kentucky and Medical Director of a primary
care center and four elementary school-based health clinics.
He has served as past president of the Kentucky Chapter of the
American Academy of Pediatrics and currently serves on the AAP
Council for School Health. He worked to implement the KCHIP
program in Kentucky and continues to advocate for Medicaid and
KCHIP. His primary care center integrates dental, mental, nutrition,
home visitation, family resources, and speech and language services.
Dr. Young founded and serves as chair on the board for Kentucky
Child Now, a non-profit state agency promoting positive youth
development and child health.
