2006 Job Lewis Smith Award Recipient
Stanley Fisch, MD, FAAP
The 2006 Job Lewis Smith Award was presented to Stanley Fisch,
MD, FAAP on Sunday, October 8th at the COCP's annual awards
luncheon.
Dr Fisch went to South Texas as an NHSC volunteer
in 1973. He leads his own group practice and serves as clinical
professor of pediatrics at the University of Texas School of
Medicine at San Antonio. Among many professional and community
activities, Dr Fisch convened the region's first hospital bioethics
committee in 1982, organized the region's first child fatality
review team in 1994, and served in the Texas Medical Association
as chair of the Council on Medical Education. He continues a
20-year collaboration with Mexican colleagues to organize bi-national
professional education conferences.
