2006 Local Heroes Award Recipient
Charles Schubert, MD, FAAP
Charles Schubert, MD, FAAP is the co-founder and medical director for
Crossroad Health Center (co-founded with Sally Stewart and Janet
Germann) located in the most underserved area of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Dr Schubert and his wife Julie developed a unique coalition of
religious, medical, social service, political and parental groups
to improve the lives of countless hundreds of infants, children,
adolescents and adults. His personal touch and commitment to these
families has become legendary in that community. As an Associate
Professor of Clinical Pediatrics in the Division of Emergency
Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of
Cincinnati College of Medicine, Dr Schubert has promoted a state-wide
immunization registry (co-chair of the Greater Cincinnati Immunization
Coalition), and has been an active member of the Cincinnati Children's
Hospital Child Abuse Team. He has, in addition, led a number of
missions to Zambia and Kenya.
