2008 Calvin C.J. Sia Award Recipient

Javier Aceves, MD, FAAP

The 2008 Calvin C. J. Sia Community Pediatrics Medical Home Leadership & Advocacy was presented on Sunday, October 12, 2008 to Javier Aceves, MD , FAAP at the COCP's annual awards luncheon.

Dr Aceves has been providing primary health care services for children with chronic conditions and disabilities since 1985, and has been medical director of Young Children’s Health Center since 1999. He obtained his medical degree in 1979 at the Autonomous University of Guadalajara and completed his pediatric residency at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in Houston in 1985. He is Principal Investigator of the Continuum of Care Program and Professor of Pediatrics at the University of New Mexico. He teaches about community-based practice and the medical home for children and youth with special health care needs.
