2008 Outstanding Achievement Award in the Application
of Epidemiologic Information in Child Health Advocacy
Katherine Poehling, MD, MPH, FAAP
Katherine Poehling, MD, MPH, FAAP completed medical school at Wake Forest University, pediatric residency at Baylor College of Medicine, and fellowship with a master’s of public health at Vanderbilt University. Her research focuses on the epidemiology of respiratory infections, particularly pneumococcus and influenza virus, and the impact of vaccine. Her influenza research was performed in collaboration with the New Vaccine Surveillance Network, which includes esteemed pediatric, infectious disease and epidemiology researchers from the CDC, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, University of Rochester and Vanderbilt University. She is now an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Epidemiology at Wake Forest University.
