Founded in 1968, the Section on Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics provides its members an educational and informational forum for the discussion of drugs and therapeutics and their application to children. Members of the section share a common interest in such issues as clinical trials, therapeutic drug monitoring, prevention of medication errors, drug labeling, pharmacokinetics/dynamics, alternative medications, drug allergy, drug development, orphan drugs, medication compliance, patient education, over-the-counter (OTC) drugs, and a host of other topics. The section also acts in a consulting capacity to the AAP Committee on Drugs and Board of Directors.

The Section on Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics is dedicated to improving the care of infants, children and adolescents and serves as a home for pediatricians and other investigators who maintain an active interest in promoting rational therapeutics in the pediatric population.
