Membership
in the Section on Transport Medicine (SOTM) is open to fellows
of the American Academy of Pediatrics and approved Section
affiliates who are actively involved in some aspect of the
study or practice of the transport of infants, children and
adolescents and who are interested in contributing toward
the objective of the Section.

Member Application
The membership of the Section
on Pediatric Transport Medicine shall consist of Fellows, Specialty
Fellows, Post-Residency Training Fellows, Candidate Fellows,
Honorary Fellows, Emeritus Fellows, Corresponding Fellows, Dual
Fellows, Resident Fellows, and International Members of the
Academy who are actively involved in some aspect of the study
or practice of the transport of infants, children, or adolescents
and who are interested in contributing toward the objectives
of the Section.
SECTION
AFFILIATE MEMBERS -- Section Affiliate Application
The Section may recruit affiliate
members who are:
1. Physicians not eligible for Fellowship
in the Academy, whose practice or research includes the
interfacility transport of pediatric patients.
2. Nurses whose clinical practice, research, or administrative
responsibilities include the interfacility transport of pediatric
patients.
Nurse applicants must submit
a copy of their nursing license and a sponsoring letter from
their transport program's medical director. (If the medical
director is a Fellow, only one additional Fellow recommendation
is necessary.)
3. Respiratory
care practitioners whose clinical practice, research,
or administrative responsibilities include the interfacility
transport of pediatric patients.
Respiratory care applicants
must submit (a) a copy of their state license (or documentation
from a supervisor that licensure is not available in their
state), (b) proof of certification or registration by the
National Board of Respiratory Care, and (c) a supporting letter
from their transport program's medical director. (If the medical
director is a Fellow, only one additional Fellow recommendation
is necessary.)
4. Paramedics
(EMT-P's) whose clinical practice, research, or administrative
responsibilities include the interfacility transport of pediatric
patients.
Paramedic applicants must
submit (a) a copy of licensure by their state or by the National
Registry of EMT-P's, and (b) a supporting letter from their
transport program's medical director. (If the medical director
is a Fellow, only one additional Fellow recommendation is
necessary.) |
