2008 Scientific Award Competition
The Ogden Bruton Award (established 1969)
Recognizes the best pediatric paper by a uniformed service pediatrician on either basic science research or research on the development, evaluation or application of an emerging technology in pediatrics.
The Leo J. Geppert Award (established 1997)
Recognizes the most outstanding research paper on topics with a major focus on peidatric primary care by a uniformed services pediatric primary care provider.
The Howard J. Johnson Jr. Award (established 1983)
Recognizes the best pediatric research paper by a house officer submitted for presentation at the annual Uniformed Services Pediatric Seminar.
The Andrew M. Margileth Award (established 1977)
Annual citation and purse and the best research paper by a uniformed services pediatrician for research in a clinical area. Named to honor Dr. Andrew Margileth for his outstanding lifetime contributions to military pediatrics, both during his active military career and as a faculty member of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences School of Medicine.

The Dave Berry Award (established 2001)
Recognizes an individual who: 1. Sets high standards for excellence in the practice of pediatrics and holds significant promise for a career in military medical education; 2.Is a caring, compassionate physician who serves as a role model for parent interactions; and 3. Leads a balanced life that acknowledges the many facets of a whole self: career, family, friends, community, spirituality, and physical health.

The Outstanding Service Award (established 1975)
Recognizes distinguished service to military pediatrics. Each year's recipient will be chosen from the Army, Navy, or Air Force in rotation.
