The Dave Berry Award

Purpose: To honor the qualities and characterisitcs embodied by MAJ Dave Berry and encourage the development and career of promising junior staff pediatrician in military medical education.

Award Description: In keeping with the personal attributes and career of MAJ Dave Berry, recipients of this award should embody the following characterisitics.

1. Academic Excellence and Career Potential
Sets high standards for excellence in the practice of pediatrics and holds significant promise for a career in military medical education. (10 points)

2. Role Model in Physician/Patient and Parent Interactions.
Caring, compassionate physician who serves as a role model for physician/patient and parent interactions. (5 points)

3. Balance in Personal and Professional Life
Leads a balanced life that acknowledges the many facets of a whole self: career, family, friends, community, spirituality and physical health (5 points)

4. Duty
Dedicated to duty; always willingly embrases the many challenges of active duty military service. (5 points)

Nominees will score additional 5 points if they have completed or are currently in a non-MEDCEN assignment.
