YP Section Executive Committee Positions
The Section on Young Physicians has an executive committee made up of ten voting members, representing each of the 10 AAP Districts. Each position is a three year term (eligible for 6 years total).
The duties of the members of the Section Executive Committee shall include the following:
- Represent your district with regard to young physician issues
- Attendance at 2 executive committee meetings each year in April and October as well as 1 district meeting and the Annual Leadership Forum (travel expenses covered by AAP for all meetings)
- Participation in executive committee conversations by e-mail (frequent) and telephone conference calls (once a year) to discuss section initiatives and make decisions on section programs
- Service on the Section’s workgroups as needed
- Submitting 1 article each year for 1 of the 3 section newsletters
- Working cooperatively with other Academy sections, committees, and staff
Goal areas for the Section include:
- Identify key AAP committees, councils, sections, task forces, other groups where young physician input is critical
- Develop and disseminate Young Physician welcome packet (overview of AAP services and opportunities)
- Improve Web site and spotlight young physician success stories
- Create a help guide for Program for Maintenance of Certification in Pediatrics ™ (PMCP ™ )
- Build a mentoring program
- Represent the needs of young physicians in the design/oversight of Pedjobs
- Identify young physicians representatives in each of the state chapters.
