Thank you for your interest in the APEX Teaching Program. Participants will be chosen via a thorough peer-review process. The applicant must be committed to attending two consecutive Pediatric Hospital Medicine conferences, beginning with the PHM Conference scheduled for July 20-23, 2017 in Nashville, Tennessee. The applicant must also be prepared to participate in both independent and on-line instruction a minimum of quarterly during the months between the conferences. The applicant must identify a local mentor, or request assistance in finding one. The mentor and the applicant are expected to meet quarterly, either in person or via phone/web-conference, to discuss progress towards meeting teaching goals. In addition, the mentor will observe and provide feedback for at least 2 of the applicant's teaching sessions. If necessary, teaching sessions can be video-recorded and shared with mentor at a later date.

To complete your application, please submit the following by January 16, 2017:

  1. Applicant Participation Agreement
  2. Curriculum vitae - Please highlight your background and experience in medical education, any specific training in medical education you have received, and any organizational affiliations relevant to medical education.
  3. Statement of Interest (max 500 words) – Please describe your current teaching activities, your personal goals for the program, and how participation in the program will benefit you and your institution.
  4. Supervisor Agreement Form
  5. Mentor Agreement Form

Please submit all application materials as one combined pdf to APEXTeachPrgm@aap.org. Application deadline is January 16, 2017, and applicants will be notified no later than February 13, 2017.
