Preparing for the Course

Read the Pediatric First Aid for Caregivers and Teachers, Second Edition Manual First

The most important thing that you can do to prepare for the course is to read and study the manual. The manual contains 18 PedFACTs topics. These topics include common first aid situations that one might encounter when caring for a child. It also includes what to do for some serious emergencies while waiting for medical care. All content presented in both the onsite course and hybrid course is discussed in detail in the manual. Read and study this material before attending the course or taking the online modules.

Print Out the Pretest Certificate (Onsite Students Only)

All students must take the pretest and print out the Pretest Certificate. Logon to the PedFACTs website at www.PedFACTsonline.com. Redeem your unique access code. Then take the pretest. At the end of the pretest, you will be able to print out the Pretest Certificate. Bring this certificate with you to the course. Use the pretest to identify topics that you need to review from the manual prior to attending the onsite or hybrid course.

Print Out the Final Examination Certificate (Hybrid Students Only)

Hybrid students take the final examination online. After you have read the manual and taken the pretest, work through the 3 self-directed online modules. The content of each module is also discussed in detail in the manual. After completing the modules, take the online final examination. Print out the Final Examination Certificate. Bring this certificate with you to the course.
