2018 Update: What's Next in Child Health Advocacy

​Looking ahead, the AAP will continue to pursue opportunities to advance bold new policies to improve the health of all children and defend the gains made thus far.

The Academy's 2019 federal advocacy priorities include:

Preserving and improving children's access to quality health care.

Supporting immigrant child health.

Reducing firearm-related deaths and injuries.

Advocating for robust federal funding for child health policies.

Ensuring substance use treatment and prevention meets the needs of children.

Protecting children from abuse and neglect, and helping families heal.

Meeting the unique needs of children with disabilities.

Improving child health globally.

Supporting and growing the pediatric workforce.

Responding effectively to the needs of children in disasters.

Protecting child nutrition programs.
